Cygnet Bay is 200 Kms north of Broome on the Dampier Peninsular adjacent to One Arm Point.

Why spend the day or a night steaming from and then back to Broome to get to the lower Kimberley. Thats a total of 250 sea miles wasted. We can launch your Kimberley Safari from Cygnet Bay ensuring you maximise your precious time in the Kimberley.

The above is a sample of the spectacular locations that are on your doorstep. Save a full days steaming by springing into the Kimberley from the Damiper Peninsular, less time travelling more time fishing and exploring. Packages from 4 to 7 nights available with transfers by road or air from Broome airport to Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm included.

Why not include a tour of the historic Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm, the oldest family owned pearl farm in Australia. Home to the largest pearl ever cultured in Australia.

The below is a summary of the area we travel to and a little background on what you can expect to see.

The Buccaneer archipelago has the largest tides (up to 11.5 metres) in Australia and a fantastic shoreline to boot. The Inland sea is at the south end is a large sheltered estuary which has many creeks and would take a week to explore. it is the home to line peeling barramundi and teeth baring crocodiles.

Just to the north is Cascade bay which has several freshwater springs and a waterfall which cascades down onto the beach. The entrance to Cascade Bay is the appropriately named Hells Gate. The tide rushes through the many islands and creates whirlpools, overfalls, and rips. Very important to stay in the boat here.

Cone Bay is one of the kimberley's hidden jewels with a pearl farm, an Aboriginal Community freshwater springs, waterfalls and pockets of tropical rainforest.

Strickland Bay is huge and holds many surprises. There is a pearl farm, rivers, mangroves, reefs, beaches, islands, great fishing and the massive "Graveyards" estuary on the northern side. Once you go there you'll understand why its called "Graveyards" A perfect place to lose yourself for a week.

Whirlpool Pass is the channel between Hidden Island and the mainland, the name says it all! Hidden Island is home to "flour beach" where the sand is as white and soft as flour and the turquoise water gives amazing visibility.

In Yampi Sound is Cockatoo Island where the mining of iron ore has been taking place for nearly 2 decades. It has a resort and airstrip. If it suits you we can fly you back to Broome from Cockatoo Island by helicopter of light plane.

To the north-west is Adele Island where you can do battle with all manner of pelagic bullies. Striped and black marlin to 150 kg, Sailfish to 60 kg, Spanish mackeral to 50 kg and GTs to 30 kg inhabit these waters.

Crocodile Creek has one of the most famous waterfalls in the Kimberley and is fantastic for a cool off.

To the east is Talbot Bay which is home to the famous Horizontal Waterfalls where there are 2 gaps in the cliffs about 15 meters apart. The tide rushes through these gaps and at times the drop in level between the two ends of the channel is 3 metres! It is a spectacular sight. Like other areas of the kimberley Talbot bay has water cascading off the escarpment into the bay following the wet season.

Walcott Inlet is further east and is a massive estuary that is home to 3 large river systems; the Calder, Charnley and Isdell Rivers. There are many barra hide aways in the inlet and we can take you to the most productive.

Montgomery Reef is a large flat reef that is over 100km in circumference at low tide. As the tide recedes the water cascades off the reef edges in millions of waterfalls. Watch as the predators wait for the food to come off the plateau and into the sea. Ideal spot to catch GTs to 30 kg.

Travelling further north is Langgi which has the petrified stone warriors, then on to Deception Bay and Sampson Inlet which is a natural cyclone shelter with rainforest, freshwater springs and pools.

Further to the north are Kuri Bay and the Prince Regent River, truly the heart of the Kimberley. Here the barra will pull your arms off ; the Cascades is further up the river and is where american actor Ginger Meadows was lost to a crocodile.

Fishbroome is run by locals who have 15 years experience in the lower Kimberley. We have travelled the lower kimberley by foot, air and sea to ensure that our knowledge of the areas we visit is unsurpassed. Above is a sample of what is available in the lower Kimberley. We can tailor a trip to your needs with preference given to organised groups.
